"Writing is looking at the world until it makes sense." When so little of what we see these days makes any sense, I find that looking at the minutiae distracts from the crazy, the dangerous ridiculousness, and it would all be ridiculous if it wasn't so dangerous. It's not quite an alternative view, but more a brain sabbatical, where I write sentences and hit a thesaurus to deconstruct and reconstruct. To turn the cube and look at a different face of the same problem.
